Can You Regrow Celery After Harvesting? Yes! Here’s How!
I harvested a full batch of celery last week, and it was delicious. It took quite a while to grow, but it was well worth the wait because blanching the stalk preserved the flavor profile but reduced the bitterness. When harvesting, I wanted to test if celery could regrow. To my surprise, it did. So for anyone asking, the answer is yes, you can regrow celery after harvesting.
As you can tell by the featured image that I captured myself, new shoots and leaves have sprouted from the base that was left behind.
It only took about two weeks to achieve this amount of regrowth after harvesting celery.
In my books, that’s a huge win because that is much faster compared to sprouting and growing celery from seeds.
The trick is in how you harvest celery.
Please allow me to explain.
How To Regrow Celery

Instead of plucking the entire crop out of the soil or cutting off the leaves, it is most preferable to cut at the base, about 5 cm above the ground. Once cut, continue to water the soil and top up on fertilizer to enhance the regrowth of celery.
If you completely remove the celery base from the ground, it is still viable for regrowth, but the process may be different.
Follow the same instructions above by cutting approximately 5 to 10 cm from the base of the plant.
Once cut, take the base and place it in a bowl or container. Fill the container with fresh water about ¼ of the way.
Be careful not to drown the base by waterlogging the container with too much water. Allow new stalks and leaves to sprout within a few days, and change the water as needed, preferably weekly.
Once it begins to grow, you can transplant the celery into a larger container with potting soil or plant it back into the ground.
With this approach, you should be able to harvest celery multiple times from one plant, so long as you continue to follow this approach.
