DIY Milk Box Planter Tutorial
Have you thought about some of the most cost-effective ways to grow plants, herbs, and flowers at home? I think about it all the time, lol, but that is because I’m really into frugality. Be that as it may, I found a way to repurpose empty milk boxes and toilet rolls into DIY planters.
It’s relatively easy to make this because you only need a scissor, apart from the milk container and toilet rolls.
Let’s get right into this DIY milk box planter, shall we?
Instructions
Cut one end of the toilet roll approximately 4 to 5cm in length to create four flaps that are closed into each other. If you have some tape or glue, you can stick the bottom together to create a capsule to hold the soil.

This is what the bottom of each toilet roll planter/container should look like when you’re done.

Use an empty milk box to cut a rectangle in it. Make it long enough to hold as many toilet rolls as you have.
The reason we want to use a milk box is because it holds water inside without breaking down. This can keep the soil moist within each toilet roll planter/container to promote the growth of your plants or herbs.

Fill each toilet roll container with potting soil and plant the flower or herb of your choice within each. Make sure that you limit each planter to just one flower or herb to accomodate the limited space and soil.

Insert each planter into the milk box container and add water when necessary.
Try to keep these planters out of the rain because they’re not strong enough to withstand large amounts of water without breaking down.

That brings us to the end of this quick DIY milk box planter. I found this to be such a fun project to complete.
If you have kids, consider making this planter with them because it could be a wonderful way to spend your Sunday afternoon with them.
With that being said, please go ahead and share this DIY with someone who you think might like it.
